Items that CAN be accepted at the sale.
Baby / children’s clothing up to age 5. Good condition, clean ironed items that look nearly new.
Similar sized items can be sold as outfits, individually or in group’s e.g. 3 tops age 6 – 9 months. If sold in groups they should be clearly marked or fastened together.
Baby grows, vests, socks and other small similar items may be wrapped and sold in clear plastic bags.
No items should have a drawstring neck.
Fancy dress items up to age 8.
Baby sleeping bags.
Maternity wear.
Nursery equipment: stair gates, bed guards, high chairs, bedding, slings, mobiles, potties etc.
Supply the manufacturer’s instructions if possible.
Stair gates and bed guards must have the correct fittings with no small items (like wing nuts) that might be detached and swallowed by a small child. Check the gaps and openings are not wide enough to trap a baby’s head.
Toys, games, jigsaws, videos, DVDS, books and general play equipment. These must be complete and in good working order. Small books and baby toys may be tied / displayed together in a clear bag and sold as a group. All toys and games must be complete with no sharp edges, peeling paint or seems coming apart etc. All toys should bear the CE or lion mark to show they meet the approved safety standard. Ensure toys with multiply parts are secured to the main body of the toy or parts may be lost.
Children’s slippers or Wellington boots but no shoes.
Swimming equipment.
Pram’s, push chairs and buggies. Items that confirm to British safety standard Bs 7409 will be permanently marked as such. A safety notice must be visible on the vehicle. The brake’s must be in good working order and work on both wheels.
Items that CAN NOT be accepted at the sale.
Jumble, third hand goods and out of date equipment. Products are becoming safer all the time, but many items that are built to last. Also, fashions and styles change very quickly and dated items just do not sell well. Stained, torn or well worn clothes, damaged toys or dirty equipment can not be displayed for sale.
Mains powered electrical equipment unless under guarantee or can be demonstrated to be in good working order.
Bottles, dummies, soothers and breast pumps.
Second hand car seats including booster seats, baby walkers and door bouncers.
Mattresses, bicycles, riding hats and crash helmets.
Shoes except for slippers, jellies, and Wellington boots.
Underwear: including children’s underwear and maternity bra’s
All hand knitted items. |
